Louise Jordan

Artist-activist Louise Jordan is a songwriter and performer with ten years’ experience touring the UK & Europe.

A former secondary school teacher with an MA in Human Rights Louise has released six recordings gaining national radio play on BBC Radio 2 Folk Show & Radio 4. 

In 2016 Louise began touring her critically acclaimed one-woman-show ‘No Petticoats Here’ about extraordinary women of the First World War. Louise’s second one-woman-show ‘The Hard Way’, the story of working class suffragette Hannah Mitchell was created in 2019. ‘Florence: the lesser known life and legacy of Florence Nightingale’ is Louise’s third touring production and was created with ACE funding in 2020.

Commissioned by UK Parliament, Dreadnought South West & Groninger Museum, Louise has worked with such organisations as the National Trust and University of Oxford to share her approach to shining a spotlight on hidden women’s histories through song and storytelling. Louise is grateful to have received support from Arts Council England, the English Folk Dance and Song Society and Help Musicians UK.
