Carol Sherman

Carol Sherman is a Bristol-based mixed media artist and actress with a background in circus, theatre and carnival.

She has worked with many innovative companies including Ben Benison, Oily Cart, Polka Theatre and the RSC. She was also artistic director for City Circus at CircoMedia in Bristol. She currently works with a multitude of different materials to create free-standing 3D art pieces and walkabout puppets. Her themes are diverse, but her latest pieces are Afro-centric based, as in her 10-foot walkabout puppet Afro-Leana, which featured recently at the opening and closing events of The World Reimagined in Bristol.

She has walked on her hands for the RSC, walked up a wall in a Beverley Knight pop video, and walked the tightrope for a Steve McQueen film. And now she is walking about with her Afro-Leana puppet to bring the warmth and colours of the Caribbean to the world.

Carol was amazing and brought so much energy while walking around. She engaged really well and left everyone with big smiles. We have had a lot of feedback from residents saying that she was the highlight of the day!
