A Selkie moves through the darkening streets, neither fully human nor fully creature, followed by a glowing mother dolphin and her three calves. Lit from within, they explore the space drawing a growing audience towards a central square where a seven-minute choreographed performance begins.
Contemporary dance, atmospheric music, illuminated puppetry — the human body and the marine creature asking together what connects us to the ocean and what it costs to cross the boundary between worlds. As the choreography closes, the dolphins move through the crowd before reuniting and returning through the dark.
Pod is inspired by the Selkie of Celtic mythology and the joy of dolphins playing in bioluminescent water. It brings luminous, LED - illuminated dolphin puppets and contemporary dance in to the streets at dusk. Animating public space with the wild wonder and hopefulness of the natural world. Asking its audiences, as the light dims and something extraordinary begins, what we might learn from the more - than - human world.
