Granny Turismo

Meet the world’s one and only shopping trolley dance display team! Granny Turismo was formed in 2009 by Martin Long and Ric Taylor. Both had been part of Larkin’ About, originally a stilt company. Ric and Martin were old friends and had been instrumental in forming Quirkus, a well-respected community circus in Manchester, now 20 years old.

The fabulously successful show Granny Turismo was designed and built by Martin and Ric with the help by Geof Atwell, a stalwart Larkin' About performer.

Apart from Martin, Ric and Geoff (Margery, Mary and Doris), a pool of fabulously talented performers are having a fabulous time being Grannies. Tess Hills from Curios Cargo (Betty), Dave Knox of Flame Oz (Marlene), Dave Ford (Joy), Oliver Broad from Jason Maverick statues and Makendoo (Gladys) can all be seen revving  up their trolleys and wearing their twin sets with gusto.

Between them they speak passable French and Dutch. Geof Atwell lectures in Physical Theatre at Edgehill University. Martin is an accomplished musician who gigs around London.
