Jaardu in Hindi means 'Magic'. The character of Jaardu is a colourfully dressed caricature of an Indian village magician, complete with head-wobble and exaggerated Indian accent. Brought to life by Andrew Elliott, he is by turns cheeky and provocative, irreverent and flirtatious. Straddling both worlds (Andrew was born in Australia) he is able to gently poke fun of Eastern and Western stereotypes.

For 28 years Andrew has maintained a special relationship with a group of gypsy magicians in northern India known as Madari. For hundreds of years they have travelled the region performing in village market places, festivals and tourist towns.

Through living and performing with these magicians Andrew has developed a unique show combining magic, suspense and humor that he tours worldwide.
