Bim Mason

Bim Mason combines 50 years of street theatre experience with 40 years of mask-making and comic performance.

He is author of the influential Street Theatre (Routledge 1992) and Provocation in Popular Performance (Routledge 2014). His award-winning work in physical theatre (directed three Fringe Firsts and one Herald Angel), was followed by decades in contemporary circus education.  He founded and directed several companies, notably Mummer&Dada and Circomedia. Previous Bigheads shows have appeared in Singapore, Montreal and Philadelphia, ever popular for their inspired interactions with the public and their imaginative use of their surroundings. His current approach to outdoor performance is to use curiosity to engage spectators in an active relationship, encouraging them to react and allowing them to speak their mind.

The company is based in West Wales and Bristol, using a pool of performers from both areas, many of whom are involved in environmental activism.  The current style of work began in 2020.
