Physical Jerks also teach Workshops giving people an opportunity to experience the art of bboying first hand under the guidance of some of the UK’s top bboys. Workshops give participants an insight in to the culture and history of the dance whilst allowing them to learn some of it's essential foundations offering a fun and engaging opportunity for people of all abilities. Learning ‘toprock’, ‘footwork’ and basic ‘freezes’, participants get a taster for the dance and a platform from which to take it further. Watch out for the Physical Jerks taking bboying to new levels!

Kung Fu

physical jerks - gangstersBboying draws heavily on martial arts for influence, and in essence is a dance based around trying to “out do” your opponent though battle. Physical Jerks developed “Kung Fu” with this in mind, to produce a high-impact show that is unique, engaging and above all, exciting. Setting the acrobatics and moves of bboying within this context gives a gripping insight into the development of one of the most dynamic and progressive dance forms around. Show Lengths: 3min, 6min, 17min. Number of Performers: 4-7

Gangsters

Set in 1920s New York, the home of bboying, “Gangsters” sees the Physical Jerks as a crew of mobsters trying to pull off a bank heist, using their style and physical dexterity. Combining all the style excitement and choreography of past shows, “Gangsters” introduces the concept of telling a story and expressing characters with dance. Show Lengths: 10min, 17min. Number of Performers: 4

It is widely acknowledged that bboying is a dance which came from the streets. This is where Physical Jerks began and continue to entertain today, with a traditional “street” show. Combining routines, moves, freestyle and crowd interaction, “street” shows provide a flexible and timeless format for entertaining crowds. Show Lengths: 3 min – 17min. Number of Performers: 4-7

“Everyone here thought that Physical Jerks were amazing and from my personal point of view, it was a pleasure to work with such a talented and professional group of performers as yourselves.” Peter Broad, BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition, Dublin

‘Everyone really enjoyed themselves from ages 13 – 35! Both Desmond and Lauren broke everything down so that all abilities were able to manage and get a sense of achievement; we learnt lots of new things’ Emma J Cole, Street Dance School, Jersey

“…Jam was brilliant and neither the dancers or the audience wanted it to stop! The guys were brilliant at bringing in the children from the workshops to show off their stuff, the little 7 year olds and then the older 16 year olds - fantastic!” Sara Clews, Arts and Events Manager, Jersey Arts Centrel
