How to book an act

Here is some information on how to make a booking, plus notes on our terms and conditions.

Choosing the acts
If you know which act(s) you are interested in then all you need to do is call or email with the date of the event. We can then get straight back to you with availability and details of prices.

If you are not sure which acts might suit, then let us know the date and what kind of event you are running and we will be able to give a full list of available acts with lots of tips on which acts would suit best.

If you need extra information such as photos, DVDs and/or biographies we can email or post them to you.

Making a booking
The next stage is to either confirm the booking or pencil the act in.

If you pencil the act in, that means you get first option on that act for your event date whilst you finalise plans, check budgets with committees etc. If the act gets any other enquiries for your date, we will call you and ask you to confirm the booking or release your option.

If you confirm the booking we will need the following information in order to prepare a contract:

Name of the event

Exact location of the event

Approximate times of the event. We don’t need exact times at this stage, but will need a window of, for example, 12pm to 5pm, so that the act knows what time of day they will be travelling and performing.

Which act you are booking. For companies who offer a range of different performances it is especially important to know exactly which of their shows you plan to schedule.

We will then confirm the booking with the act and put a contract in the post to you.

From this point the act will be 100% reserved for you and the act will turn away any other enquiries that come in. This means that you will be liable for a cancellation fee if you are unable to go ahead with the booking for any reason, so we always advise against making a confirmed booking unless you are absolutely certain.

Information for the day
With the contract you will find an information sheet detailing all the additional information we require about your event. You will need to complete this and return it to us at least two weeks before the engagement.

Everything you need
We will be available from this point to give you all the information you need about the acts. We can send over copies of public liability insurance, risk assessments, advise on technical requirements and we have lots of lovely photos available to download from our website for publicity purposes.

Payment
In some cases we will ask for a deposit but we normally expect payment to be made after the event (within four weeks). Payment is to be made by cheque in the post or by BACS payment to Fools Paradise upon receipt of a VAT invoice from us. Cheques can be sent to us in advance and will then be processed after the engagement. Artists are paid immediately after the engagement if we have received payment from you.

Accommodation
If you are providing accommodation for the acts we assume this will be hotel of minimum 2 star standard with secure parking facilities and breakfast provided. If this is not the case, please inform us so that we can tell the artist in advance.

Parking and changing facilities
It is a standard requirement that artists are given reserved parking close to the performance area and secure changing rooms with tables, chairs and mirrors. If you have any problems providing these facilities then do let us know in advance.
