The Baghdaddies more detailspublicity
(five piece band)
The Baghdaddies have developed a totally unique sound – gypsy jazz, roots, Ska, Balkan Beat, world dance, punk etc. The band prefer ‘Toon Tone’, also the title of their new album.
The overriding influence is Balkan Gypsy folk/wedding music from sources such as Ivo Papasov and Goran Bregovich, from the masses of traditional tunes passed down through generations of European musicians, and, of course ORIGINAL compositions. One of the most fun bands in this or any other universe. Equally at home on the street, at festivals, large or small venues, weddings, parties and corporate functions... the Baghdaddies guarantee an uplifting and joyous show.
“Traditional and modern dance rhythms, infectious melodies and vocals sung in any number of tongues, meshed together in a seamless cacophony of professionalism and fun. Brilliant.”– Big Issue
“The Baghdaddies play an excellent and very brassy version of Eastern Gypsy music a la Goran Bregovich and then add their own very groovy and funky style”– Royal Festival Hall listings magazine
“Riotous Balkan gipsy brass band music... big favourites on the festival circuit”– Folk Roots magazine
