Fool’s Paradise Suggested Checklist for Outdoor Events

Sreeet Ents SJ 040

In addition to government guidelines, organisations such as Equity, Outdoor Arts UK and the National Association of Street Artists have been working to find ways of making events as safe as possible for artist, staff and audience.  Fool’s Paradise companies are aware of these suggested measures and will follow best practices at all times during an event. Outdoor performances, especially walkabouts, are highly adaptable and therefore very suitable for socially-distanced events.  Roving outdoor entertainment is the one of the safest ways to bring live performance to the people and our artists, with their many years of experience in working outdoors in a huge variety of situations, are fully qualified to respond to this new world.

The following checklist gives examples of the measures taken by performers and the provisions that event organisers may need to make. Many performers do not need all the provisions below so do let us know if you cannot provide a dressing room or toilet facilities, for example, and we will point you in the direction of performers who arrive self-contained and therefore do not require them

Health and Hygiene

All our performers will:

  • Monitor own health and be aware of symptoms of the disease
  • Not attend an event if they have symptoms, or have been in close contact with anyone who has symptoms or who has tested positive for COVID-19
  • Follow good hygiene procedures with regular handwashing and use of hand sanitiser
  • Provide own hand sanitiser and not share it with others
  • Wear a mask or face covering where required
  • Not take part in rehearsal, training or performance with anyone outside their ‘bubble’ unless social distancing measures are in place

Performers will:

  • Avoid public transport if possible, and wear a mask if it is unavoidable
  • Not travel in the same vehicle with anyone outside their bubble.
  • Allow plenty of time to reach venue and deal with practicalities of arrival and parking

Dressing Room

Client to provide:

  • A well-ventilated dressing room that is large enough for the number of performers at the event
  • Ensure that the dressing room is fully cleaned before use
  • Non-public toilet facilities
  • Hand washing facilities with paper towels and lidded bins

Performers will:

Wipe down surfaces they have touched before and after use

Maintain social distancing measures in dressing room area

Costume and Equipment

Performers will:

Fully clean all props before each performance and, if necessary, between shows

Not share costumes or props with others from outside their bubble

Store props in a closed container and clean thoroughly after the event
